So, I Wrote Some Poems n That
Earlier this year I decided I wanted to get back to writing some poetry. I felt inspired again to start stringing a few words together that could maybe evolve into a sentence, a verse and hopefully some kinda fully formed poem.
Before I was banging out stories, articles on leadership and creating video content… my main squeeze was penning poetry. It would either be angsty as hell, unrequited love “why doesn’t anybody love meeee” crap OR pure Black power, ebonics, “ain’t no Black in the Union Jack” power rhymes. Zero chill. But for whatever reason, I felt compelled for the first time in years to start carving out some new work to see what would happen.
I just wanted to create for the sake of creating. No strings attached.
There is no end game here. I guess I wanted to see if I could actually do it first and anything past that is a bonus. The theme around these bevy of ballads is essentially hinged on neglecting my mental health because it seems like a lot of admin and effort. So, instead I just thought I’d write stuff down and share it with people who may or may not give a shit.
Because that’s how self care works right?!
There are 19 pieces of wordy verses within this chapbook ranging from thought provoking rhymes on biscuits to dealing with regrets and trauma. Ya know, all the classic cheerful stuff! You will be able to blast through the pages in mere moments.
Depending on how this goes I may continue down this path of floetry OR we can pretend that this never happened!
